My name is Kara Yoder and I’m an Artist-Illustrator living in Rogers, Arkansas.
I find it difficult to really define what I’m trying to do with my Art. I find it difficult to stay with one medium & one style. What is shown on my website is a mere fraction of the body of work I have created. Here I play with the juxtaposition of realism and symbolism, moving between muted, realistic images and richly colored, symbolic illustrations.
I work off a whim - a feeling. An idea arrives from the intangible and I make it tangible - sometimes without knowing the meaning but hoping that it will resonate with someone.
My goal is authentic expression without putting myself in a box. My goal is distilled truth & simplicity. My goal is inclusion on a Human scale by exploring the fundamentals of Life on Earth. I am interested in pure color, simple shape, and Universal themes so that any human, from any part of the World at any time in history can feel a connection in some way. I don’t know if my work expresses this yet, but this is the process and the motivation.
And at times, I simply create just to feel my hands doing something.
When I’m not creating, you’ll find me walking in the woods, enjoying time with my boys (Lev & Tristan), writing, and making cookies. I also really adore my cat, Merlin. Meow
